I’ll be honest — this house is not for everyone.
And that’s exactly why we love it.
The Kia Peng Residence, a bold luxury home located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, was never meant to blend in.
Recently featured in Tatler Homes magazine, this project celebrates the beauty of personalised maximalism — design that’s expressive, layered, and
deeply meaningful.
This was a home crafted for one person — Dato I — a highly respected figure in the energy sector, with decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, and an active presence on multiple corporate and banking boards. He’s the kind of client who knows exactly who he is — thoughtful, cultured, and unafraid to make bold decisions. And this home reflects that.
From the start, he made it clear:

He wanted a home that told a story — his story.
So we leaned into that. Every design choice speaks to his life.
A 20-foot-long hand-tufted carpet, inspired by the swirling textures of oil and earth, anchors
the living room. It’s a centrepiece — custom-designed to pay quiet tribute to his
professional roots, while elevating the space with sculptural softness. If you're looking for
custom-designed carpets for high-end homes, this one sets the bar.
The walls are deep red — moody, warm, and rich in character.
We didn’t ask, “Will people like this?”
We asked, “Is this true to him?”
Art was also a key part of the narrative.
A Van Gogh–inspired feature wall brings movement and texture, while another wall is
adorned with a large-scale painting of Chinese egrets rendered in bold brushstrokes — an
elegant nod to traditional ink work, reinterpreted for a modern, layered interior.
This is not just a house.
It’s a bold interior design for professionals who appreciate art, story, and emotional
connection.
A maximalist interior design project in Malaysia that challenges the norm and proves that
